About

Hello! I‘m Aisa.

I currently live in Thun, Switzerland. Before here, I was in London, where I met my German husband. I am an Asian-American who grew up in central Virginia. The question „where are you from?“ triggers a mini identity crisis. If people have time, I‘ll give them a short personal history. If not, I say I‘m from all over the place. Or as better put in German: „Ich komme aus alle durcheinander.“

My career is a mix of projects in the international culture sector as a curator, coordinator and researcher (though one of my favourite jobs was working as a decorator in a cupcake bakery). I feel as much at home in a museum or art gallery as I am going for a long walk in the mountains or along a lake. I am particularly keen on textiles and dress displays and appreciate the impact of a well-designed exhibition, text panel or object label. I‘m crafty with my hands and have become one of those people who chooses „Netflix and knit / crochet“ above all social activity. Being creative — doodles in notebooks and on my tablet, singing and music-making — grounds me and calms me down. So do the dramatic views of mountains and lakes.

To sharpen my language skills, I may share things here written in passable German. For you native German speakers, please be kind. I hear regularly writing in another language is one of the best ways to master it. I once was extremely proficient in Arabic and even French, but these days I can really only keep two languages in my overactive brain.

Thanks for visiting my little corner of the interwebs. Stay for as little or as long as you want, I don‘t mind.
